Piz Buin as glacial ski tour
highest mountain of Vorarlberg with skis
1 1/2 days
Climbing Vorarlberg's highest mountain, the Piz Buin (3,312 m), in winter as a glacial ski tour and then skiing down over the Ochsental glacier - that is the dream of many mountaineers.
On the first day we start together at the Bielerhöhe and ascend through the Bieltal valley to the Bieltaljoch. From there we reach our base for the night, the Wiesbadenerhütte (2,443m), via a short descent. The next day we start early in the morning and ascend via the Ochsentaler glacier to the Buinlücke, where we swap our skis for crampons. We then reach the summit via easy climbing (UIAA I-III). The descent finally takes us through the Ochsental valley back to the Bielerhöhe.
