Advnced training, Diavolezza Bernina

Objectiv of this training is to update existing knowledge and to train intensively in order to be prepared in cases of emergency. We pay special attention to issues like planning, safety technique and rescue.

Trainings programme:

  • Planning and preparation of tours
  • Material knowledge glacier equipment
  • orientation and selection of tracks on glaciers
  • crevasse rescue
  • self-rescue from crevasses
  • Climb over short, moderately steep ice crests
  • Abseiling over short, moderate ice flanks
  • exchange of experience with professionals

In the middle of the incredible scenery of the Piz Palü we stay at the perfect lodge - the Berghaus Diavolezza (2973m) within an ideal trainings area. In the evening we review the day in the open-air Jacuzzi.

Description

A glacier basic course is mandatory.

8.30 a.m. at the station of the Diavolezza cableway (see Google maps)

Organisational

The training ends on Sunday 4 p.m. If security permitst the course takes place whatever the weather. Short-term modifications are reserved to the guide.

Equipment to bring with you:

  • backpack (appropriate size)
  • first-aid box, emergency blanket, personal medication
  • headlamp
  • alternate laundering (socks, shirt)
  • second pair of gloves
  • weatherproofs (jacket, over pant)

  • unbreakable water bottle/Thermos flask (min. 1 ltr)
