Piz Buin
Highest mountain of Vorarlberg
1 day tour
The Piz Buin (3312m) is part of the impressive Silvretta. Starting from the Wiesbadener hut we walk across the glacier in about 4 hours and a bit of easy climbing to the peak at last. We descend through the icefall (Gletscherbruch) of the Ochsentaler glacier back to the hut.
The Wiesbadener hut is easily reached by mountain bike. The long track around the Silvrettasee and into the Ochsental is quite flat and not difficult. The last climb to the hut is steep and it is better to dismount and push the bike. The big advantage is that after the Piz Buin ascent the return trip to Bielerhöhe can be made with the bike, which saves time and energy.
